Union Home Minister Amit Shah has instructed the complete elimination of the terror eco-system in a security review meeting focused on Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting, which lasted around two-and-a-half hours, saw Shah reviewing the area domination plan of security agencies in the region to eradicate the threat of terrorism.

During the meeting, Shah emphasized the need to strengthen counter-terrorism operations and adopt a zero-tolerance approach against terrorism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also stressed the importance of following due procedures while dealing with counter-terror operations.

The Home Minister highlighted the significance of enhancing the local intelligence network and commended the efforts of security agencies and the Union Territory administration in reducing terror-related incidents, infiltration, and improving the law and order situation.

The review meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Chief of Army Staff, Director of Intelligence Bureau, Heads of Central Armed Police Forces, Chief Secretary, and Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir.

This meeting comes in the wake of a recent encounter in which four soldiers were killed and three injured after terrorists fired at army vehicles in Rajouri’s Poonch region. Several similar incidents have taken place in the region over the past two years, resulting in multiple casualties.

The heightened militancy in the Pir Panjal region, comprising Rajouri district, Poonch, and parts of Reasi districts, has raised concerns. The region has witnessed a surge in terrorist activities, with militants ambushing and targeting army personnel.

It is worth noting that Shah had previously chaired a high-level review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in January last year. During the meeting, he emphasized the government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and the strengthening of security mechanisms to eradicate the support and information systems of terrorists.

The Home Minister’s determination to eliminate the terror eco-system is a significant development in the fight against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. With the government’s continued focus on strengthening security operations and intelligence networks, there is hope for a safer and more peaceful region in the future.
