In a significant development aimed at strengthening border security and infrastructure, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated key projects along the Indo-Pakistan border in Gujarat’s Kachchh. The official statement highlighted the inauguration of a Mooring Place at Koteshwar for the Border Security Force (BSF), the newly constructed Chidiyamod-Biarbet Link Road, and an OP Tower in the Harami Nala area.

During the event, Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the nation’s borders. The Mooring Place at Koteshwar, with a budget of 257 crore, will play a crucial role in the upkeep and maintenance of BSF Floating BOPs and water vessels. This facility will enable round-the-clock surveillance and operations in the inaccessible creeks, significantly enhancing border security.

The Chidiyamod-Biarbet Link Road, constructed at a cost of 106.2 crore, marks an important milestone in improving accessibility and connectivity to border areas. Its completion will facilitate smoother movement of personnel and resources, contributing to enhanced border management and security operations.

The OP Tower near BP No. 1164 in the Harami Nala area, built at a cost of Rs 3 crore, will strengthen security by ensuring a constant presence of BSF and making the area impenetrable. This tower will prevent illegal intrusions by Pakistani fishermen through Harami Nala.

The strategic initiatives undertaken in the Kutch region highlight the government’s commitment to modernizing and strengthening border infrastructure and fortifying national defense. The inauguration of these projects reflects the government’s vision of ensuring the safety and sovereignty of the nation’s borders.

The event was attended by dignitaries including MoS (Home) Harsh Sanghavi, Vinod Chavda (MP of Kutch), Pradhyuman Sinh Jadeja (MLA, Abdasa), Ajay Bhalla (Union Home Secretary), Nitin Agrawal (DG BSF), P V Rama Sastry (SDG, BSF Western Command), Ravi Gandhi (IG BSF, Gujarat Frontier), and other senior officials of BSF, CPWD, State Administration, and civil dignitaries.

The initiatives undertaken by BSF Gujarat on the operational front have yielded significant results. Since 2021, the force has successfully neutralized two Pakistani smugglers on the international border in the Barmer Sector. Additionally, they apprehended nine Pakistani nationals, four Bangladeshi nationals, and five other nationals in the border area. Furthermore, 25 Pakistani fishermen were apprehended, and 81 Pakistani fishing boats were seized in the Creek and Harami Nalla area. Various contraband items were also confiscated, including 119 kg of Heroin, 130 kg of Charas, 3 kg of Amphetamine, and 160 kg of Doda-Posht, with a total value of 600 crore.

The Home Minister expressed his gratitude to the Border Security Force for their tireless efforts in safeguarding the nation’s borders. He commended the force for their unwavering commitment and professionalism. The director-general of BSF highlighted the crucial role that infrastructure development plays in advancing the operational capabilities of the force. He expressed gratitude to the government for its unwavering support and emphasized the significance of these initiatives in safeguarding the nation’s borders and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
