Home and Away Star’s Touching ‘Goodbye’ to Johnny Ruffo at Emotional Memorial
Home and Away star Lynne McGranger joined friends, family, and co-stars at a memorial service in Perth to bid a final farewell to Johnny Ruffo, who tragically lost his battle with brain cancer on November 10 at the age of 35.
The service, held at Balcatta Senior High School, was a poignant gathering to remember Ruffo, known for his role in the beloved soap opera and his time on The X Factor. McGranger, deeply moved by the day’s events, took to Instagram to share her emotions.

So many emotions, so much love, so blessed to be included in his huge and crazy family.
So many people came to say goodbye, so many more couldn’t get here.
We cried and laughed and danced and sang and ate and drank and hugged and cried and …. – exactly how he would have wanted it.
Fly high my friend, I hope you know how much you’re loved.
Ada Nicodemou, McGranger’s co-star, also expressed her grief and admiration for Ruffo in the comments section of the post.

You were such a wonderful friend to Johnny and he loved you very much.
He will always be in our hearts, he touched everyone he came in contact with, just a beautiful human.

Ruffo was known in the entertainment industry as a triple threat due to his immense talent as an actor, singer, and dancer. He captivated audiences as a finalist in the third season of The X Factor Australia in 2011 and later portrayed the character Chris Harrington on Home and Away starting in 2013.
The actor’s journey with cancer began in 2017 when he was diagnosed after experiencing excruciating migraines. Ruffo underwent emergency surgery to remove a seven-centimeter tumor, which resulted in 27 staples in his head. Despite undergoing extensive chemotherapy, he revealed in 2020 that the cancer had returned.
The memorial service provided an opportunity for those who admired and cared for Ruffo to gather and pay their respects. It was a day of mixed emotions, filled with tears, laughter, and cherished memories of a beloved individual.
