Delhi police’s Special Cell has arrested a 27-year-old henchman of the infamous Kapil Sangwan gang, along with his associate from Mohali in Punjab. Rohit Sharma, a resident of Jhajjar district in Haryana, has been identified as the henchman, who conducted recce of the office of deceased Surender Matiala and arranged shooters, motorcycles and weapons for the murder. His associate was identified as Sanju Kadyan alias Sushant Rana, aged 24. Both Rohit and Sanju were apprehended on June 16 from Mohali in Punjab, police said.
According to the Special Commissioner of Police, a team was continuously monitoring the activities of Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu Gang. During the monitoring, it was revealed that Rohit Sharma was in direct contact with Kapil Sangwan through encrypted social media apps, and was passing on instructions to the shooters present in Delhi to execute the killing of Surender Matiala while hiding in Punjab with his associates. Rohit’s two brothers, Mohit and Sohit, have been arrested in connection with the case.
Najafgarh Kishan Morcha district president Surender Matiala of BJP Unit was shot dead on April 14 by two unidentified men who had entered his office. Eight members of the Kapil Sangwan gang, including three juveniles, had been arrested earlier in connection with the murder. The police also learned that Rohit and his associate were planning to eliminate Nandu’s rival gangster Manjit Mahal, who is presently lodged in Tihar jail.
The Delhi authorities have been working tirelessly to improve the security situation in the area after several recent violent incidents. The apprehending of Rohit Sharma and his associate, who are key members of the Kapil Sangwan gang, is a significant success for the Delhi police. They must continue to work hard to bring the remaining members of the gang to justice.
