Thunderstorms accompanied by rain and gusts with speeds of up to 50 Km/hour are expected to hit most areas of Delhi, including Safdarjung, Lodi Road, IGI Airport, Ayanagar, and neighboring towns such as Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad.
In a statement, IMD advised caution, particularly to commuters and people living in low-lying areas. The agency also notified residents of several parts of neighboring Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan state, which are expected to experience moderate-intensity rain on Sunday.
The rainfall comes as a welcome respite for Delhiites, who have been grappling with unbearable heat waves and air pollution for several weeks. The monsoon forecast for the capital is favorable, with predictions of above-average rainfall from June to September.
