Heavy Rainfall Causes Road Waterlogging in Delhi, Disrupts Traffic

Heavy rainfall in Delhi and its nearby areas early on Saturday morning resulted in road waterlogging, leading to a disruption in traffic. The downpour caused major inconvenience for commuters, particularly around the Badarpur metro station in Delhi.

On Friday evening, parts of Delhi already experienced traffic disruptions due to the heavy rainfall. According to the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) in Delhi, light to moderate rain is expected to continue in isolated places in Delhi and its surrounding areas.

The recent heavy rainfall in Delhi marks a significant event as the national capital broke a 41-year record for receiving such intense rainfall in July. Moreover, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the rainfall during the second half of the southwest monsoon season (August to September) is likely to be normal; however, it might skew towards the negative side of normal.

Experts from the IMD, in a statement issued by the Director of Meteorological Centre in Amaravati, Samuel Stella, stated that the overall rainfall would range from 94 to 106 percent of the Long Period Average (LPA).

To address the situation, relevant authorities are working diligently to mitigate waterlogging and ensure smooth traffic flow. However, it is crucial for commuters to remain cautious and allow extra travel time during these weather conditions.

The heavy rainfall and subsequent waterlogging highlight the need for proper infrastructure and drainage systems to cope with such weather events in Delhi. Authorities must invest in upgrading the city’s infrastructure to prevent further disruptions and inconveniences caused by heavy rainfall.

As for the weather forecast, residents and commuters are advised to stay updated with the latest information from the RWFC and heed any advisories or warnings issued by the authorities. By taking necessary precautions and remaining attentive while traveling, individuals can navigate through the rainfall-induced challenges more effectively.

In conclusion, heavy rainfall in Delhi has resulted in road waterlogging and traffic disruptions. With the monsoon season still underway, it is essential for residents and commuters to stay prepared and cautious during their daily activities. Improving infrastructure and drainage systems will play a crucial role in effectively managing such weather-related incidents in the future.
