During a video conference from his office, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the principal secretary revenue and disaster management Gyanendra Dev Tripathi to take steps for prepositioning of NDRF and SDRF personnel in the vulnerable districts. He instructed the chief secretary to ensure one NDRF team reach Dima Hasao by Sunday night, an area badly affected by rain last year.
The IMD announced that during the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall occurred at most places in the states of Arunachal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura. In addition, heavy rainfall over Mizoram was recorded. Although it is not yet known if there will be flooding, the forecast for heavy rainfall is expected to continue for the next five days.
