The Union Health Ministry in India has sent teams of doctors to provide healthcare facilities to strife-hit Manipur, said an official statement. The teams consist of doctors specialising in surgery, psychiatry, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, urology and emergency care. The move supports the state’s public health efforts, which have been adversely impacted because of ongoing violence. Six teams of doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Kalyani and Guwahati, as well as NEIGRIMS in Shillong were deployed on the direction of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
