Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Harinder Gill has been appointed as the new Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (PRCCIT) in Gujarat, India. Gill, a member of the 1987 IRS batch, will take on the role full-time and oversee tax administration and enforcement activities in the state. Previously, Gill held the position of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in an additional capacity. His appointment will fill the vacancy left by former PRCCIT Ravindra Kumar, who retired in November 2022. Gill has served the Income Tax Department in various capacities across India, including as Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) in Delhi and Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in Uttar Pradesh.
