Hamas Hostage Survivor Shares Terrifying Ordeal during Attack on Israel
A woman who was taken hostage by Hamas during its recent attack on Israel has revealed the harrowing details of her experience. Adi Efrat, one of the survivors of the Hamas assault on October 7, met with MPs and peers in Parliament to recount the traumatic events. The meeting, hosted by Chipping Barnet MP Theresa Villiers and Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer, provided a platform for Ms. Efrat to share her story.
Recalling the horrifying incident, Ms. Efrat explained how Hamas militants broke into her home in the Be’eri kibbutz and kidnapped her. She described how they tightly zip-tied her hands from behind, causing immense pain and discomfort. However, amidst a fierce gunfight between her captors and the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), she was eventually left behind by Hamas and subsequently rescued by IDF soldiers. The intense standoff lasted for about 15 minutes before the terrorists finally fled the scene.
Ms. Efrat expressed her primary concern at the time, which was to cooperate with her captors in order to ensure her own safety and the well-being of her worried family. She emphasized that resistance was not her priority; her focus was on survival. This brave survivor has now chosen to share her traumatic experiences, shedding light on the suffering inflicted by Hamas during the attack.
Following the meeting, Ms. Villiers expressed her gratitude to Adi Efrat for her immense courage in coming forward to share her story. She underlined the importance of remembering the suffering caused by Hamas on October 7 and the ongoing plight of those who remain captive. The attack on kibbutz Be’eri was one of the deadliest against Jewish people since the Holocaust, reinforcing the necessity for Israel to defend itself and its citizens through military action.
Acknowledgements were also given to Rabbi Naftali Schiff and Jewish Futures for facilitating Adi’s visit to the UK. Furthermore, Mike Freer was commended for co-hosting the event, which provided an opportunity to raise awareness about the ordeal faced by Adi and her family.
It is estimated that over 120 people lost their lives during the Hamas attack on the Be’eri kibbutz. This tragic incident stands as a stark reminder of the brutality and violence perpetrated by terrorists, further highlighting the need for the international community to address such threats with determination and unity.
