On June 21st, Guru Nanak Dev University located in Amritsar celebrated the 9th International Yoga day in collaboration with the district Ayurvedic department. The event aimed to promote the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga, an age-old practice that originated in ancient India.
The participants of the event included various faculty members, employees and students who performed yoga under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu. The event was conducted with all the COVID-19 protocols in place, including social distancing, the wearing of masks, sanitization, and other measures to ensure the safety of all participants.
Yoga is a powerful tool that focuses on building strength, awareness and harmony in both the mind and body. It enhances concentration and clears the mind of clutter, allowing for better focus and attention. Practising yoga regularly offers numerous long-term benefits such as flexibility, stress reduction, improved sleep and overall wellbeing.
Dr. Pawan Sharma, the medical officer along with Dr. Sandeep Shridhar, Ayurvedic medical officer and Dr. Seema Grewal and Dr. Amandeep Singh, heads of the Physical Education department, participated in the event, supporting the initiative to promote the importance of yoga.
