Gurgaon: The health department has issued a cold wave advisory, urging residents to reduce travel and take necessary precautions as the minimum temperature dips below 5 degrees Celsius. In light of the plummeting temperatures, the department has recommended wearing layered woollen clothes and being mindful of symptoms of frostbite. All health institutions, including public and private hospitals, have been instructed to stay vigilant and make appropriate arrangements for patients affected by the cold wave.
To prepare for cold days, it is advised that individuals check local weather forecasts through mediums such as radio, television, or newspapers. Stocking up on adequate winter clothing is also recommended. Dr Virender Yadav, the chief medical officer in Gurgaon, emphasized the importance of taking care of senior citizens, children, and neighbours who live alone during this severe weather period.
Additionally, individuals are cautioned against burning coal indoors to generate heat as closed spaces could lead to the production of carbon monoxide, a harmful gas. It is crucial to recognize symptoms of frostbite, such as numbness and a white or pale appearance on exposed body parts like the fingers, toes, ear lobes, and the tip of the nose.
As the cold wave continues, the health department’s advisory serves as a reminder to prioritize safety and well-being amidst plunging temperatures in Gurgaon.
