Gunmen Kill Man and Abduct Mother in Kwara State Attack

In a horrifying incident that took place in Kwara State, Nigeria, gunmen have reportedly killed a man and abducted his mother. The attack occurred in the Alalubosa community of the Okoolowo area, Asa Local Government. The assailants, armed with AK-47s and numbering approximately six, unleashed terror on the residents around 10:00 pm.

Tragically, AbdulRasheed Alafara was shot dead by the rampaging gunmen during their onslaught. In an attempt to escape, he was macheted to death after being initially shot in the leg. The gunmen also targeted two of his siblings, Semiat Mukaila and Abdullahi, leaving them with gunshot wounds. Fortunately, they are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

According to Abdullahi, one of the victims, the assailants carried out their operation for about 30 minutes. He commended the vigilantes who bravely confronted the attackers, resulting in the fatal shooting of one of them. The mother of the victims was abducted during the incident but was later rescued by the vigilantes.

Abdullahi expressed his concerns about the security situation in the state and urged the government to equip the vigilantes adequately. He also raised issues about the delayed response of the police. Although the victims had called the police on Tuesday night, they only arrived at the scene the following morning.

The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident and mentioned that a team of policemen had been deployed to the scene. This tragic event adds to the growing concern for security in the region.

Authorities are called upon to address the escalating violence and take concrete measures to safeguard the lives and properties of residents. The community seeks justice for AbdulRasheed Alafara’s untimely death and hopes that the injured siblings recover quickly.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the persisting security challenges faced by communities in Kwara State. Swift and comprehensive action is needed to restore peace and protect innocent lives from the menace of armed attacks.
