Man jailed for murder following extradition

A gunman who was extradited from St Lucia after being identified by determined Metropolitan Police detectives has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for murder. Chase Griffith, 22, appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday and was found guilty of the murder of 28-year-old Sam Brown after a trial in November. Griffith had fled to Saint Lucia following the murder and was later extradited back to the UK. The investigation, led by Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, relied on CCTV and forensic evidence to build a strong case against Griffith. The sentencing brings closure to Sam Brown’s family, who expressed their gratitude for the investigative work that led to justice being served. The court heard that the murder occurred as an act of revenge after a stabbing earlier that night. Griffith shot Sam in the street, causing him to stagger into his car before losing consciousness. He was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Griffith fled the scene and changed his appearance before boarding a flight to Saint Lucia, where he remained until his extradition. The challenging investigation relied on meticulous work and mobile phone data analysis to conclusively prove Griffith’s guilt. The sentence serves as a reminder that dangerous individuals will be held accountable for their actions.
