At least 19 people have been shot, three fatally, in gun violence across Chicago over the holiday weekend, according to the Chicago Police Department (CPD). In one incident, a 24-year-old man was shot multiple times in the chest and killed in the backyard of a South Side home. Another shooting occurred at a South Side CTA Red Line station, where an argument escalated to shots being fired at a knife-wielding man. The victim was hospitalized and reported to be in fair condition. A migrant man was also shot and killed on the Southwest Side, near a Gage Park migrant shelter. A 19-year-old man was fatally shot in an alley in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood, and another 24-year-old man was shot and killed in the South Shore neighborhood. No suspects have been taken into custody, and police investigations are ongoing. Last weekend, 18 people were shot, one fatally, in gun violence incidents across the city. The CPD is working to address the escalating gun violence and ensure the safety of Chicago residents.
