Gulmohar to Inaugurate 20th Edition of Indian Film Festival in Stuttgart

The Indian Film Festival Stuttgart is all set to take place in July 2023 and it has just been announced that the opening film will be Gulmohar, a family drama starring Sharmila Tagore and Manoj Bajpayee. The film’s director, Rahul V. Chittella, expressed his excitement about being chosen to open the prestigious festival, stating that it was an honour to be part of an event that champions soulful stories from India.

Chittella went on to say that it was heartening to see the love and appreciation pouring in for Gulmohar from audiences worldwide. He explained that the film was about the Batra family’s final days living in their family home which is set to be demolished to make way for a new high rise complex. As they prepare to move to a new city and start a new life, the family delves deeper into their memories and emotions.

Gulmohar is a Star Studios production which was made in association with Chalkboard Entertainment and Autonomous Works. Co-written by Rahul Chittella and Arpita Mukherjee, the film is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
