GTT and CSSC Form Strategic Cooperation
The technological expert in membrane containment systems GTT and China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement.

Under the agreement, GTT and twelve subsidiaries of CSSC will collaborate in ship design and construction, cryogenic containment technologies for LNG shipping, LNG as fuel, and smart shipping solutions. Their joint efforts aim to develop and market competitive LNG tank solutions using GTT technologies for various vessel types, including LNG-propelled container ships, bulk carriers, oil tankers, and Pure Car and Truck Carriers. The partnership also focuses on optimizing the engineering of LNG carriers, VLEC, and offshore platforms.

Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, expressed his enthusiasm for the cooperation agreement, stating, This marks an important step in our development strategy in China. Together, we will explore opportunities for innovation and strengthen our position in a constantly evolving maritime sector.

In line with the agreement, four of CSSC’s shipyards, namely Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, Jiangnan Shipyard, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry, and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, are authorized to construct GTT technologies under Technical Assistance and License Agreements (TALA).

The partnership between GTT and CSSC holds great promise for the future of LNG shipping and related industries. With the two industry leaders joining forces, the maritime sector can expect increased collaboration, innovation, and advancements in cryogenic containment technologies.

By leveraging GTT’s expertise and CSSC’s extensive shipbuilding capabilities, this strategic cooperation agreement aims to enhance China’s position in the global LNG market. As demand for LNG grows worldwide, the collaboration will ensure the development and availability of cutting-edge LNG tank solutions that meet the evolving needs of the industry.

The joint efforts will not only benefit the two companies but also drive progress in environmental sustainability. LNG is recognized as a cleaner alternative to traditional marine fuels, and the partnership will contribute to its adoption as a fuel source in the shipping industry. This aligns perfectly with the global push for greener initiatives and reduced carbon emissions.

The strategic cooperation agreement between GTT and CSSC is a significant development that showcases the synergies and forward-looking approach of the two industry powerhouses. As the maritime sector continues to evolve, this collaboration will foster technological advancements, efficient vessel design, and environmentally friendly solutions.

With the combined expertise and resources of GTT and CSSC, the future of LNG shipping and smart shipping solutions looks promising. As they embark on this journey together, the industry eagerly anticipates the transformative impact this alliance will have on the evolving maritime landscape.
