Grieving Mother Seeks Justice for Son’s Unsolved Murder in Philadelphia
It has been five heartbreaking years since Priscilla Johnson lost her beloved son, Wilfred, to a senseless act of violence. Wilfred, a devoted SEPTA driver in Philadelphia, was known for his gentle nature and his aversion to conflict. However, on that fateful night of September 10, 2018, tragedy struck when he was shot and killed on his way home from work.
The incident occurred at 8:45 p.m. along the unit block of North Millick Street in West Philadelphia. Police found Wilfred suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. For Priscilla, the pain of losing her son is compounded by the lack of answers and justice in his case. It’s going on five years and I have heard nothing, not anything. Nothing, she lamented.
Priscilla strongly believes that her son was targeted. She recalls an altercation Wilfred had two weeks prior to the tragic incident, where an unidentified person showed up at his job. To this day, the motives and identity of that individual remain a mystery. Wilfred’s untimely death has left a void in the lives of many who knew him. He left a lot of hurt souls, a lot of hurt hearts down here, Priscilla tearfully shared.
Seeking resolution and closure, the City of Philadelphia is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. Additionally, TWU Local 234, the union representing SEPTA workers, is offering $5,000 as a reward. Authorities urge anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward and share what they know by calling the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS. All calls will be kept anonymous.
Despite her grief, Priscilla holds no ill will towards the perpetrator. I wish no harm to this person who did this to my son. I have forgiven you, she expressed. Her only plea is that justice be served for Wilfred’s sake.
The unresolved murder of Wilfred Johnson highlights the grim reality of unsolved crimes in Philadelphia and the devastating impact they have on families. The search for answers continues as loved ones, friends, and the community at large unite in their relentless pursuit of justice.
