During the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, a green corridor will be established for kanwariyas from Haridwar city in Uttarakhand to Gurukul Narsan situated near the border of Uttar Pradesh. In addition, one side of the highway will be reserved for Kanwar passengers. The Kanwar Yatra is set to begin on July 4. Haridwar District Magistrate Dheeraj Singh Garbiyal stated that a two-lane side of the highway from Haridwar to Gurukul Narasan will be reserved for kanwariyas so that there is no problem in carrying water for the kanwariyas during the last days of the Kanwar Yatra. At the same time, Garhwal Commissioner Sushil Kumar said that Kanwar Yatris should carry their government-issued ID card during the event.
Kumar emphasized that the devotees should make smaller kanwars to avoid accidents, not make kanwars higher than 12 feet, and avoid causing noise pollution. The commissioner added that the police would pay special attention to those who ride motorcycles without silencers this time. According to Nagnyal, an inter-state meeting was held regarding preparations and coordination for the Kanwar Yatra 2023 in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district. The meeting was attended by officials from the state as well as neighbouring states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. DIG Karan Singh Nagnyal stated that they had requested 10 companies of Paramilitary forces personnel to ensure the smooth conduct of the Kanwar Yatra in the State.
