Grand Jury Indicts Bourne Man for Assaulting and Enticing Juveniles on Electric Ave. Beach
A shocking incident that took place on August 7, 2023, in the town of Bourne has led to the indictment of Jeffrey Burgess, a 60-year-old resident of Bourne. Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois announced today that a Grand Jury has officially charged Burgess for his involvement in the assault and enticement of two juveniles.
The charges against Burgess include three counts of Assault and Battery, one count of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child under 14, and two counts of Enticing a Child Under 16. The alleged incident occurred at Electric Ave. Beach, where Burgess approached two juvenile females and reportedly made inappropriate advances towards them. He allegedly tried to persuade them to go to a wooded area near the beach, while also touching both juveniles on their hands and arms. Shockingly, it is alleged that Burgess even used his tongue to touch one of the juveniles.
The investigation into this disturbing incident was carried out by Officer Joshua Parsons and Detective Nicole Bevilacqua of the Bourne Police Department. Assistant District Attorney Dana Hatchell and Victim/Witness Assistant Nancy Barrows will lead the prosecution in this case. As of now, Burgess remains in custody, with bail being set. The Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office has declined to comment further on the charges against Burgess.
