Graham Nash Says Neil Young and Stephen Stills Collaborations Are Still Possible

The iconic supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young may have been permanently altered by the tragic passing of David Crosby in January 2023, but Graham Nash believes that there is still a chance for collaborations with Neil Young and Stephen Stills in the future.

Since their last performance together on October 27, 2013, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young had not reunited until David Crosby’s untimely death. Crosby, Stills & Nash had also not performed together since December 3, 2015. Despite these challenges, Graham Nash remains optimistic about the possibility of working with Neil and Stephen again.

In an interview with Noise11.com, Nash stated, That would depend on the music. Right now, all three of us know that without David it is never going to be the same and no matter what we did, people would always miss Crosby, of course. Like we all do. Who knows? It depends on the songs.

Nash reminisced on their previous collaborations and shared a glimpse of what could inspire future collaborations. He recalled Neil Young approaching him with two songs of his own and three from Stephen Stills, which ultimately led to their collective enthusiasm to record together. Nash emphasized, If Neil or Stephen come up with songs that we want to do, we will try and figure it out. That’s all we’ve ever done.

While Nash acknowledged the irreplaceable role David Crosby played within the group, he also highlighted the cherished memories and musical chemistry he had shared with Crosby over the years. Some of my most cherished musical moments are with David, Nash expressed. David and I had a blend. Also, not only did we have a musical blend, but we also had a blend as friends. It was almost like Laurel and Hardy. We would joke about each other on stage, and people loved the fact that it was two kids having a great time together.

In the meantime, Graham Nash is preparing to resume touring in 2024 with shows in New Zealand and Australia. The tour, organized by David Roy Williams, will kick off on March 1, 2024, in New Zealand and then continue to various cities across Australia.

Fans and music enthusiasts alike await further updates on the potential collaborations between Graham Nash, Neil Young, and Stephen Stills. Although the absence of David Crosby will undoubtedly be felt, there remains a glimmer of hope that their collective musical brilliance will find a way to shine once again.
