OpenAI’s Revolutionary Chatbot, GPT-4 Turbo, Targets Fortune 500 Companies and Hits 100M Weekly Users
OpenAI, the leading artificial intelligence company, made waves at their first developer conference in San Francisco with the unveiling of GPT-4 Turbo, an enhanced version of their popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT. The announcement, made by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, revealed that ChatGPT now boasts an impressive 100 million weekly active users.
Altman happily shared this milestone achievement, highlighting the immense popularity of the AI chatbot. With over two million developers already utilizing the platform, Altman noted that more than 92% of Fortune 500 companies are among its users, further solidifying OpenAI’s position in the market.
During the conference, OpenAI introduced GPT-4 Turbo as an upgraded and cost-effective iteration of their flagship text-generating AI model, GPT-4. This enhanced version comes in two variants, with one focusing solely on analyzing text and the other demonstrating an understanding of both text and images.
OpenAI wasted no time in making the text-analyzing model available through an API preview, effective immediately. The company announced plans to make both versions of GPT-4 Turbo generally accessible in the upcoming weeks.
Additionally, OpenAI unveiled the ‘Assistants API,’ a significant step towards allowing developers to create agent-like experiences within their applications. By utilizing the Assistants API, OpenAI customers can design assistants with specific instructions, incorporating external knowledge and leveraging the power of OpenAI’s generative AI models and tools. This innovative API offers diverse applications, ranging from natural language-based data analysis to AI-powered coding assistance or even vacation planning.
Powering the Assistants API is Code Interpreter, a powerful tool developed by OpenAI that simultaneously writes and executes Python code in a secure execution environment. Initially launched in March for ChatGPT, Code Interpreter renders capabilities such as generating graphs and charts, processing files, and allowing assistants created with the Assistants API to iteratively solve code and mathematical problems.
The conference took an unexpected turn when Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella made a surprise appearance to speak about the collaborative partnership between the two tech giants. Responding to Nadella’s praise, Altman acknowledged the strength of their partnership. However, he emphasized the importance of gradual and iterative deployment as the best approach to address the safety challenges associated with AI, ensuring cautious progress.
OpenAI’s groundbreaking developments in the field of AI continue to captivate audiences worldwide. With the introduction of GPT-4 Turbo and the Assistants API, this remarkable company is cementing its position as a pioneer in the field, attracting major attention from both developers and global businesses. As the demand for advanced AI solutions grows, OpenAI remains at the forefront, reshaping industries and revolutionizing the way we interact with technology.
