KPS Bidnal, a government school in Hubballi, Karnataka, is drawing increasing attention for running on par with private schools in the town. The school, which introduced English medium classes from LKG to fifth standard in 2018-19, has seen a surge in demand for admission ever since.
This year, the school received over 200 applications for 30 seats in LKG. Yielding to parental pressure, KPS Bidnal has decided to increase its intake for LKG and UKG admissions to 80 students, with 40 students in each division, from 30 each previously.
Headmaster Manjunath Jangali said the lottery system was used to finalize the list of students. The school is yet to decide if it will increase the student limit for first standard English medium from the current capacity of 30 students.
The school has garnered attention across the state with the quality of its teaching, facilities, and care for students. Former corporator Mohan Asundi said that the school’s popularity and queue for seats exceeded that of private schools in the town, while MLA Prasad Abbayya praised the excellent teaching materials, staff, and development works undertaken at the school.
KPS Bidnal continues to set the benchmark for government schools, setting itself apart from the rest.
