Government tightens grip on Damoh school management

The government of Damoh in Madhya Pradesh is taking action against the owners of the Ganga Jamuna School in the district. The school’s management, who also have other businesses, were raided by the Commercial Tax Department (CTD) on Friday. The revenue, agriculture, labour, and Food and Drugs Administration departments are now investigating the assets and income of the school. This comes after the school allegedly forced Hindu students and teachers to wear Hijab and convert to Islam. The MP Child Rights Protection Commission and the National Child Rights Protection Commission investigated these claims, with the latter writing to the district collector to cancel the school’s affiliation. The CTD team was protected by a large police presence when they examined the documents at the school. Officials have also raided the Ganga Jamuna showroom and reportedly sealed the weighbridge on Jabalpur Naka bypass due to illegal mining activity. The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not yet released any statements on their findings.
