Google for Startups has announced that it will offer $4 million in funding to 25 African-based startups, as part of its Black Founders Fund. The programme aims to tackle systemic racial inequality within venture capital funding, by offering mentoring and equity-free grants to early-stage black-led high-growth businesses across Europe and Africa. In addition to mentoring, recipients will receive up to $150,000 in non-dilutive cash awards, up to $200,000 in Google Cloud credits, as well as ad support and industry expert support. The scheme has been running for three years and has provided over $205 million in investor conversations since its inception.
