Goldi Solar, a Gujarat-based company, is planning to invest over Rs 5,000 crore to expand its module manufacturing capacity to 6 GW, according to the company’s managing director, Ishver Dholakiya. This expansion will increase the company’s current module manufacturing capacity, which stands at 2.5 GW. The investment will be made by the year 2025, and the expansion will also include the manufacturing of auxiliary products, such as aluminium frames, junction boxes, and backsheet.
The company’s expansion strategy includes the aim of hiring over 4,500 people across different functions, which will increase its workforce to over 5,500 by FY25. Dholakiya revealed that they plan on recruiting 25% of their employees from local tribal regions around their proposed manufacturing facility and aim to conduct a three-month certification programme at a skill development centre.
Furthermore, to train a skilled workforce in solar manufacturing space, Goldi Solar has partnered with L&T Public Charitable. The company also plans to set up cell manufacturing units, increasing its cell manufacturing capacity to 5 GW subsequently, Dholakiya added.
Presently, Goldi Solar has two module manufacturing plants located in Pipodara and Navsari districts of Gujarat.
