Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress is demanding the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment by top wrestlers in the country. The GPMC is urging for sports to be made a ‘holy area’ by ensuring justice for the protesting wrestlers. GPMC President, Beena Naik, criticized the BJP government at the Centre for ‘shielding’ Singh, who is also a saffron party MP. Naik argued that if action is not taken against Singh, the future of sports in the country will be bleak. She called for the accused to be sent behind bars to make parents more willing to send their daughters to play. Naik also expressed concerns about how images of protesting wrestlers were deliberately manipulated by the BJP’s IT cell to discredit them.
