The Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu recently collaborated with the Art of Living organization to organize a meditation workshop called ‘Har Ghar Dhyan’. The workshop aimed to help the faculty members, senior residents, MBBS and PG students learn stress-relieving techniques, meditation, and pranayama for boosting immunity and health.
Around 150 medical students and over 35 heads of departments, faculty members, and senior residents attended the workshop, which was conducted by Rohit Ranjan, the Institutional Programme Director and an international faculty with Art of Living.
During the workshop, Ranjan explained how changes in lifestyle, adopting meditation, pranayama, and stress-relieving kriyas and meditations can help boost immunity, relieve stress, anxiety, depression, and manage the mind. He also conducted a short but powerful meditation for the attendees.
In his speech, Ajay Kapoor, State Coordinator at Art of Living Bureau of Communications and Projects J&K, emphasized the significance of the workshop in helping individuals cope with stress and maintain their physical and mental wellbeing.
The Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu, Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, also highlighted the importance of such workshops in today’s fast-paced world. She explained the need for upcoming programs in the GMC to commemorate International Yoga Day, National Directives, and NMC guidelines for working seriously on stress relief for medical students and professionals.
Several Heads of Departments also attended the faculty session, including Dr. Seema Gupta, Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, Dr. Anju Jamwal, and Dr. Fayaz Wani.
Overall, the workshop proved to be an effective platform for promoting mental and physical wellbeing among the students and faculty members of GMC Jammu. It also reiterated the importance of meditative practices and stress-relief techniques in daily life.
