Global Telco AI Alliance Formed by Singtel, SK Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, and e& to Accelerate AI Transformation in Telco Business
Singapore-based Singtel has joined forces with three major telecommunications companies, SK Telecom from South Korea, Deutsche Telekom from Germany, and e& from the United Arab Emirates, to establish the Global Telco AI Alliance. The four telecom giants have signed a multilateral memorandum of understanding aimed at speeding up the transformation of the telecommunication business through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The primary objective of this alliance is to collaboratively develop the Telco AI Platform by combining their respective technologies and capabilities. This platform is expected to serve as the foundation for new AI services, including those designed to enhance telecommunication services, digital assistants, and super apps that offer an extensive array of services.
Yuen Kuan Moon, Singtel’s Group CEO, expressed his excitement about the alliance, explaining, This alliance will enable us and our ecosystem of partners to significantly expedite the development of new and innovative AI services that can bring tremendous benefits to both businesses and consumers. Singtel is well-positioned to leverage AI with its advanced 5G network, enabling them to enhance customer service, increase productivity, and drive learning.
The Global Telco AI Alliance will also work together to develop new growth drivers through AI-powered business models, aiming to improve the overall customer experience through AI technology. To facilitate this cooperation, the alliance will establish the Global Telco AI Alliance Joint Working Group. The group’s discussions will cover various topics, including co-investment opportunities and the co-development of the Telco AI Platform.
The signing ceremony, attended by telco leaders both virtually and in-person, took place in Seoul, South Korea. Ryu Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom, emphasized the significance of the alliance, stating, The launch of the Global Telco AI Alliance is meaningful in that it marks the beginning of a new journey to innovate our business models while growing together with our global partners. Through collaborative efforts, we will accelerate the AI transformation of all industries, provide new value and experience to our customers, and lead the growth of the global AI ecosystem.
By joining forces and sharing resources, Singtel, SK Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, and e& are poised to accelerate the integration of AI into the telecommunications sector. The Telco AI Platform they aim to develop will drive innovation and enhance customer services, ultimately shaping the future of the industry.
