Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI) has officially launched its Global Accelerator Programme (GAP) 2023, aiming to support 20 companies from Malaysia, Türkiye, and Russia. The GAP 2023 program will focus on three high-potential industries: Medical & Healthcare, Agriculture, and Drone technology, all chosen to align with Malaysia’s economic plan and drive the growth of high-tech industries. The goal is for Malaysia to become a high-income economy by 2025 and ultimately emerge as a trillion-dollar economy by 2036.

CEO of MRANTI, Dzuleira Abu Bakar, expressed that through GAP, participants will have access to an extensive network of industry experts and partners, going beyond just an introduction. The aim is to establish a thriving and sustainable innovation ecosystem where ideas can flourish, and innovation can soar. This year’s cohort for GAP 2023 comprises 12 companies from the Medical & Healthcare sector, five from Agriculture, two from Drone Tech, and one from the Business & Financial industry.

Apart from the curriculum and mentorship provided, these companies will have the opportunity to test their products live in Malaysia’s National Technology and Innovation Sandbox (NTIS). This strategic move aims to encourage collaboration and foster market prospects for the participating companies. Safuan Zairi, MRANTI’s Chief Ecosystem Development Officer, emphasized that GAP is a platform to discover and nurture outstanding innovators, pushing the boundaries of their creativity to establish a sustainable tech ecosystem in Malaysia that positions the nation ahead of global trends.

The impact of MRANTI’s Global Accelerator Programme (GAP) has already been significant. Through its first six cohorts, GAP has impacted 212 companies, facilitating a commendable US$130.45 million (RM594.2 million) in funding. The sign-up period for GAP 2023 began in May and will culminate in a presentation to investors in November.

In conclusion, MRANTI’s Global Accelerator Programme (GAP) 2023 is set to drive innovation in Malaysia by supporting and nurturing companies in the Medical & Healthcare, Agriculture, and Drone technology sectors. The aim is to create a sustainable innovation ecosystem that aligns with Malaysia’s economic plan and propels the nation toward its ambitious economic targets. The program has already proven successful in its previous cohorts, facilitating substantial funding for participating companies. With the launch of GAP 2023, MRANTI is well-positioned to continue driving Malaysia’s technological advancement.
