May is often recognized as Hypertension Awareness Month in India with Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited (Glenmark) leading the initiative. Glenmark partnered with healthcare professionals from over 210 hospitals and clinics across 143 cities to host 214 blood pressure screening camps and public awareness rallies. Through informative sessions and screenings, Glenmark was able to reach out to 10 million adults across the country. Alok Malik, the Executive Vice President and Head of India Formulations of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals expressed his commitment in tackling hypertension, emphasizing the importance of early detection and management.
Glenmark is making tremendous effort to develop awareness about hypertension by launching campaigns such as #TakeChargeAt18 and the world’s first hypertension awareness symbol, The BP logo. These efforts seek to empower individuals in knowing the signs, symptoms, and preventive measures of the condition. India is determined to tackle hypertension by striving to reduce the prevalence of high blood pressure in adults by 25 percent through 2025 making these campaigns even more pertinent and timely.
