Glen Ridge resident Alex Provost, a junior at Montclair Kimberley Academy (MKA), is making waves as one of the standout goalkeepers in the Super Essex Conference. With the season off to a 1-1-2 start, Provost’s strong play has been instrumental in the team’s efforts.
Last season, Provost showcased his skills as the team’s starting goalkeeper and excelled in various tournament matches. Notably, he recorded an impressive 14 saves in a 3-0 loss to eventual state champion Gill St. Bernard’s during the Non-Public, North B state sectional final. According to MKA coach Rob Leather, Provost’s success on the club soccer circuit and his ability to thwart opposing attacks make him an invaluable asset to the team.
Provost is joined by promising sophomore Jan Hejna, also from Glen Ridge, who serves as the other capable goalkeeper for MKA this season.
MKA had a commendable performance last year, clinching the SEC-Liberty Division championship with a 5-1-1 division record. Additionally, the team reached the finals of the state prep B-Division Tournament.
As the soccer season progresses, Provost’s skills and dedication will undoubtedly continue to contribute to MKA’s success on the field. With his impressive track record, it is clear that Provost is a rising star to watch out for in the Super Essex Conference.
