Young girl on chemo meets Queen, enjoys tea, and receives special gift

A little girl who has spent most of her life on chemotherapy was invited for afternoon tea with the Queen – and tried a cuppa for the first time.

Olivia Taylor, seven, has a brain tumour which has left her blind but she leapt up to shout Hello, your Majesty! as Camilla entered the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle.

And on sipping her drink, poured by the Queen, the schoolgirl declared: I love tea to which Camilla replied: Oh you love tea! There you are, you’ll be able to have tea from now on.

Olivia, who has fought a brave battle against her illness, was full of joy when she received a special gift from the Queen – a silver necklace adorned with a tiny crown pendant.

The meeting between Olivia and the Queen was arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charity that helps fulfill the wishes of children with critical illnesses.

Olivia’s mother, Sarah Taylor, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, stating, This is a dream come true for Olivia. Despite her illness, she has always admired the Queen and her strength. Meeting her in person and having this unforgettable experience means the world to Olivia and our family.

Camilla, who also spent time speaking with Olivia’s family, showed genuine warmth throughout the encounter. She asked Olivia about her favorite subjects in school and her dreams for the future, offering words of encouragement and support.

The Queen shared a touching moment with Olivia, holding her hand and telling her how she admired her strength and positivity in the face of such challenges. Hearing these words from the Queen left Olivia beaming with pride.

The meeting not only provided Olivia with a magical experience but also raised awareness about the importance of supporting children battling critical illnesses. Organizations like the Make-A-Wish Foundation play a crucial role in bringing happiness and hope into the lives of these brave children.

Olivia’s encounter with the Queen will undoubtedly become a cherished memory for her and her family. It serves as a reminder of the power of kindness, compassion, and the ability to make dreams come true.

As Olivia left Windsor Castle, she held her new necklace close to her heart, filled with gratitude and joy. Her journey continues, and with the Queen’s words of encouragement, she is inspired to keep fighting and embracing life with a cup of tea in hand.

This heartwarming meeting between a young girl on chemo and the Queen reminds us all to cherish the moments that bring light and happiness in the darkest of times. Olivia’s unwavering spirit and the Queen’s genuine compassion are a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
