A disturbing case has emerged from the Bhathena area of Surat, where a 14-year-old girl has allegedly been subjected to repeated sexual assaults by a 21-year-old man over the span of a year. Adding to the horror, a 45-year-old friend of the accused actively participated in the crime by covertly filming one of the sexual assaults to perpetrate further exploitation. The perpetrators, identified as Jitu Rana and Pappu Chaudhary, have been swiftly apprehended by the Salabatpura police.
As per a Times of India report, the distressing truth came to light when the victim’s mother stumbled upon the incriminating video footage captured by Chaudhary. The Salabatpura police swiftly responded to the grievous complaint, leading to the apprehension of both Rana and Chaudhary. While Rana faces charges for the alleged rapes, Chaudhary stands accused of not only recording the sexual assault but also of threatening the victim.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Bhagirath Gadhvi revealed that the victim and Rana’s paths intersected at a textile unit in Bhathena, where they worked alongside each other. Exploiting the victim’s presence at the workplace with her mother, Rana utilised false promises of marriage to lure her into his heinous acts, committing atrocities within the confines of the textile unit where he resided. Chaudhary, Rana’s roommate, committed a reprehensible act by clandestinely recording one of the sex assaults.
His involvement underscores the calculated malice that often accompanies such despicable crimes. Prompt action by law enforcement resulted in the arrest of both perpetrators, who now face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Information Technology (IT) Act. As authorities continue their investigation, support is extended to the victim and her family, recognising the trauma inflicted upon her.
