Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is working tirelessly to revive the country’s ailing economy through concrete measures. The Akufo Addo-led administration aims to improve the living standards of Ghanaians and bring relief to citizens in the wake of economic challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
During the inaugural Moral Vision and National Development Conference 2023 organized by the Church of Pentecost, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the government’s commitment to resuscitating the economy. He acknowledged that prior to the pandemic, Ghana was one of the fastest-growing economies globally. However, he expressed confidence that with the recent IMF program, the government aims to restore the high rate of economic growth observed before the outbreak in 2020.
We are taking steps to address inflation, exchange rate depreciation, and economic growth has also seen improvement, stated Dr. Bawumia. He further highlighted the government’s efforts in funding policies aimed at modernizing the educational system, reforming healthcare, and enhancing agriculture productivity to ensure food security.
The Vice President maintained his faith in the country’s ability to bounce back, urging citizens to share the same belief in President Akufo-Addo’s leadership. With faith, appropriate policies, determination, and hard work, he emphasized that Ghana can turn its fortunes around.
As the government tackles the economic challenges head-on, Dr. Bawumia called for unity and collaborative efforts from all stakeholders. He stressed the importance of citizens supporting the government’s initiatives to successfully restore the country’s economic prosperity.
It is evident that the Akufo Addo-led administration is committed to implementing concrete measures to revive Ghana’s economy. With a focus on addressing inflation, exchange rate depreciation, and enhancing economic growth, the government aims to bring relief to Ghanaians and return the country to its previous high growth trajectory.
