Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has been nominated for re-election and is receiving praise for his efforts in stabilizing the association during a turbulent period. Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, former GFA president, has expressed his support for Okraku, stating that it would be better to retain him as the GFA president than to bring in a new leader.

Okraku, who is seeking a second term, will be facing competition from former FA vice president, George Afriyie, in the upcoming election scheduled for September 27. In an interview with Graphic Sports, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe commended Okraku’s performance, highlighting that his first tenure was free from scandals due to the measures he implemented to improve the association’s image.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe emphasized the importance of Okraku’s role in stabilizing the GFA after a challenging period. He also acknowledged Okraku’s initiatives and expressed confidence that if given the opportunity, he would take the association even further.

The former GFA president warned against choosing another candidate over Okraku, despite allegations that have been leveled against him. Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe mentioned that it is better to give Okraku a chance to continue his work rather than opt for someone who may not be as experienced or knowledgeable about the intricacies of the role. He also encouraged those with concerns or allegations to follow the appropriate procedures and present their cases to the responsible committee.

As the election approaches, Okraku’s track record and his ability to navigate through challenging times are being recognized and appreciated. Supporters like Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe believe that Okraku is the right person to lead the GFA and bring about positive change and development in Ghanaian football.

It remains to be seen how the election will unfold and whether Okraku will secure a second term as the President of the Ghana Football Association. As both candidates continue to campaign, the football community in Ghana eagerly awaits the results, which will have a significant impact on the future of the association.
