The Government College of Education (GCoE) in collaboration with Art of Living (AoL) organized a Har Ghar Dhyan workshop on June 19. The event was held under the guidance of Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta and supervision of NSS Program Officer, Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, and saw the participation of faculties, non-teaching staff, and students.
The workshop began with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the principal, resource persons, and senior faculty members of GCoE. This was followed by a welcome address by Principal GCOE.
The meditation session was led by Resource Persons Ajay Kapoor, State Coordinator AoL-Bureau of Communications and Projects, and Shakti Sagar, senior faculty and DTC, both from AoL J&K and Ladakh Chapter. Shakti Sagar beautifully explained how adopting meditation, pranayama, and stress-relieving kriyas can strengthen immunity, relieve stress, anxiety, and depression and help manage our minds, and increase stamina to work for longer durations.
The interactive session during the workshop was attended by NSS volunteers and faculty members, including Prof. Shalini Rana, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Shapia Shameem, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Prof. Seema Kumari, Prof. Vinaylata, Prof. Anuradha, Dr. Anuradha Seth, Prof. Satish, Prof. Shambunath, Dr. Rajinder Kour, Prof. Radhika Mahajan, and Prof. Sunita Saryara. The students and faculty members expressed feeling positive and relaxed after the session.
The Har Ghar Dhyan workshop aimed to promote meditation and stress-relieving techniques among the students and staff members of GCoE. It is encouraging to see institutions prioritize the mental well-being of its members, especially during the unprecedented times of the pandemic.
Overall, the event was a success, bringing peace and calmness to the participants and equipping them with tools to maintain their mental health.
