Week long Activities held at GCOE to celebrate National Youth Day
Government College of Education (GCOE) partnered with Red Ribbon Club, IIC, and NSS to organize a week-long series of activities to commemorate National Youth Day 2024. The event, themed It’s all in the Mind, took place from January 12th to January 19th and saw an impressive turnout of 80 college students, all exhibiting great enthusiasm under the guidance of Dr. S.P. Saraswat, Convener of Red Ribbon Club and IIC.
Prof. Sunanda Rani, Convener of Red Ribbon Club and IIC, emphasized the significance of National Youth Day and encouraged students to actively participate in the planned events. She addressed student queries surrounding HIV, debunking myths and sharing essential facts about the disease.
Numerous events were organized throughout the week, including an Awareness Rally, live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech, Slogan Writing, Rangoli, Poster making on HIV/AIDS, and a Symposium. The adjudication of these events was carried out by Prof. Satish Sharma, the officiating Principal of the college, along with esteemed senior faculty members, Prof. Seema Kotwal, Dr. Rajinder Kour, Dr. Anuradha Choudhary, Dr. Davinder Kour, and Prof. Roopa Kumari.
The overall execution and organization of the events were masterfully overseen by Prof. Sunanda Rani of the Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, Prof. Sarita Dogra (NSS PO), Prof. Kiran Thapa, and Dr. Sonam Gandotra.
This initiative offered college students a platform to come together and actively engage in activities that aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, while also celebrating the spirit and potential of the youth. By fostering an environment of learning and participation, the organizers successfully encouraged young minds to contribute towards societal well-being.
The one-week long program concluded on a positive note, with participants showcasing their creativity, knowledge, and passion throughout the various activities. The event not only united the college students in their shared enthusiasm but also served as a reminder of the significant role they play in shaping the future.
