According to the GSU President Tengsak G Momin, most of their doubts have been cleared regarding the roster system’s implementation in Meghalaya after a meeting with the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. Momin added that the correct implementation of the roster system could bring significant benefits to all the indigenous people of Meghalaya.

During the meeting, the objective was to raise awareness among the Garo community about the roster system and its potential advantages. The GSU emphasized that the primary focus was on ensuring the fair and unbiased distribution of these benefits among the indigenous population. Momin clarified that there were no differences of opinion and the main aim was to fully comprehend the essence of the roster system.

The Chief Minister provided extensive explanations, emphasizing that the roster system aims to rectify the historical deprivation experienced by indigenous people by ensuring fair opportunities and benefits. The GSU has identified some concerns that require further clarification, which they plan to address with the Chief Minister at a later date.

The GSU believes that the fair implementation of the roster system could benefit all indigenous people of Meghalaya. However, some specific issues require clarification, and once the GSU gets the reassurance from the Chief Minister, the implementation will bring positive benefits to all the indigenous people.
