The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in India has filed a charge sheet against Lawrence Bishnoi, a gangster who headed an anonymous network. The charge sheet revealed that Bishnoi never directly spoke to any of the shooters but routed them through his close associates. The entire network was run anonymously, and nobody knew who the actual boss was. The gang members only knew the person above them in the hierarchy. The distribution of work was planned carefully, and funding matters were mostly decided by Bishnoi and his close associates.
The charge sheet also revealed that Bishnoi was adept at running the entire network from inside the jail. He never applied for bail in any case. The gang’s activities included kidnapping, murder, extortion for ransom, cross-border smuggling of sophisticated weapons and narcotics, inland smuggling of contraband, and illegal liquor smuggling. The accused, Goldy Brar, made the operational base for the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate in Canada, while Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, Sachin Bishnoi, and Vikramjit Singh operate from abroad.
The NIA investigation also revealed that a significant part of the money generated through extortion activities was sent to Canada, the US, Dubai, Thailand, and Australia. The money was used to fund the activities of pro-Khalistan extremists and to help their associates and family members based abroad.
The gang members present at the time of the killings often did not know each other to ensure the safety of the rest of the members in case one got caught.
The Lawrence Bishnoi Syndicate was one of the most notorious and feared gangs in India with a vast network of criminal activities. The charge sheet filed against the gangster provides insight into the inner workings of the gang and highlights the need for law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant against such terror syndicates.
