The third G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting under India’s presidency will be held in Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh from Monday. Over 60 delegates from G-20 member countries, invitees and international organizations are expected to continue discussions from the second IWG meeting in March. Topics include developing infrastructure as an asset class, promoting quality infrastructure investment, and mobilizing financial resources for infrastructure investment.
The meeting will assess the concrete progress towards various work streams of the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda, with discussion of ‘Financing Cities of Tomorrow, Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable’ as a top priority. During this three-day meeting, various official meetings and cultural programs are set to take place to experience the rich culture and natural beauty of Rishikesh; A tour for the delegates is arranged at 2 pm on June 28. A ‘High-Level Seminar on Roadmap for Sustainable Cities’ is being jointly organized with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, alongside two seminars that explore challenges to infrastructure resilience, the impact of technology, and more.
The delegates will also experience Indonesia’s approach to develop Nusantara, one of the world’s most ambitious cities. International and national experts are attending to provide diverse perspectives on major topics of discussion. Additionally, a dinner interaction will be held at Uttarakhand where the delegates can enjoy the rich cultural heritage and local cuisine. A ‘Yoga Retreat’ is planned for the delegates on Monday.
