The G20 Infrastructure Working Group held its 3rd meeting in Rishikesh, India, initiating discussions on financing cities of the future. The delegates from G20 countries, invitee countries, and international organizations discussed the key priority area, ‘Principles on Financing Cities of Tomorrow: Inclusive, Resilient & Sustainable.’
The Infrastructure Working Group is focused on various aspects of infrastructure investments, including developing infrastructure as an asset class, promoting quality infrastructure investment, and mobilizing financial resources for infrastructure investment.
The meeting is aimed at advancing discussions on the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda under the Indian G20 Presidency while following up on the discussions held during the second IWG meeting in March 2023 in Visakhapatnam.
During the three-day meeting, NWG decision-makers will explore the role of rapid urbanization, technology, infrastructure resilience, and inclusivity to address key challenges ranging from climate change to infrastructure sustainability and digitalization.
Apart from formal discussions, various official meetings and cultural programs have been planned for the delegates, providing a unique opportunity to experience the rich culture and natural beauty of Rishikesh. A seminar organized in partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank on Roadmap for Sustainable Cities will also take place on Monday.
The meeting will focus on concrete progress towards various work streams of the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda.
