On Thursday, Emmanuel Parks, 26, also a resident of Morvant, was shot dead near a nearby hardware store believed to be connected to the funeral home. According to law enforcement, Parks, identified as an extortionist, allegedly targeted contractors in Laventille, coercing them into paying large sums of money to avoid potential robberies at their worksites.
Police are currently investigating a possible link between Parks’ murder and the subsequent killing of Clyde Johnson. David Simpson, Johnson’s employer, lamented the violence that has become all too familiar in Laventille.
