Anjali Khalko, a resident of Civildag village in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, has made her country proud by playing baseball for the Indian team. She recently participated in the Women’s Asia Baseball Championship held in Hong Kong, where the Indian team secured sixth place at the Asia level.
Anjali’s talent has been recognised by the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, and she has received support and opportunities from the government and district administration. Despite her family’s financial circumstances, Anjali appealed to the authorities for assistance, which she received, enabling her to reach the position she is in today. Her sports journey has seen her win gold medals on the national stage, and she will participate in a competition in Canada in December.
Anjali has received support from her family ever since she started playing baseball in the sixth grade. She received her primary education from government schools in Larangi and Ratasili before pursuing a Bachelor of Physical Education in Raipur.
Collectors and local villagers in Balrampur-Ramanujganj praised Anjali’s achievements, and the district administration has pledged to assist Anjali and other talented players in the region. Despite her busy schedule, Anjali helps her mother with household chores whenever she visits her village for civic duty.
Anjali’s remarkable journey shows the potential and talent present in even the smallest of villages, and her determination and government support have enabled her to pursue her dreams.
