A 43-year-old cold case in West Palm Beach, Florida has resurfaced as friends of a missing Minnesota man seek the help of expert divers in their search for answers. Michael John Olson went missing in November 1979 at the age of 20 while working as an intern at a local country club. After going out for drinks with coworkers, he never returned, leaving behind all of his belongings and his car.
Paige Neinaber, a friend of Olson’s from Minnesota, has never forgotten this cold case and recently flew to West Palm Beach to assist in the search. Neinaber contacted the Darkwater Dive Center, a diving group based in Jacksonville, for their expertise in searching the waterways near where Olson was last seen.
Brent Arrowood from the dive team expressed their commitment to helping find answers, stating, People lose things in the water all the time. We go find them and bring them up. Over the past few days, the team has been diligently searching local waterways for any trace of Olson or his 1979 Grand Prix car.
While finding Olson’s specific car may not be possible at this point, the dive team’s efforts have already provided valuable information. Arrowood believes that ruling out the presence of Olson’s car in the waterways allows investigators to explore other theories. The ultimate goal is to bring closure to Olson’s family, who have endured over four decades of uncertainty.
Neinaber emphasized the importance of keeping the case in the public eye, stating, Nothing bad will ever come from keeping a light shining on it. Despite the lack of leads, Olson’s story remains a beacon of hope, inspiring continued efforts to uncover the truth.
As the investigation into this cold case continues, both the diving team and Olson’s friends hope that their collective efforts will yield answers and bring solace to his loved ones. The mystery surrounding Michael John Olson’s disappearance in West Palm Beach in 1979 persists, reminding us of the enduring power of friendship and determination in the search for justice.
