Baton Rouge General and the YMCA have partnered to offer free walk-up flu shot events in the community. The initiative, called Boo the Flu, aims to provide easy access to flu vaccines over a two-week period.
The campaign began on October 9 and encourages individuals to get their annual flu vaccines by the end of October for protection throughout flu season. This is particularly important for young children under 5, pregnant women, and those with chronic medical conditions as they are at higher risk for infection.
The walk-up flu shot events are open to anyone aged 3 and up, with most insurances covering the cost. Non-insurance payment options are available as well. Participants must bring a valid photo ID and insurance card.
The flu shot events will be held at various locations in Baton Rouge from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Baton Rouge General and the YMCA are working together to make the flu vaccine easily accessible to the community. Getting vaccinated not only protects individuals, but also contributes to overall public health by reducing the spread of the flu.
Take advantage of this initiative and get your free flu shot today. Help protect your family, friends, and neighbors by getting vaccinated and preventing the flu from spreading in Baton Rouge. Remember, prevention is always better than cure.
Stay healthy this flu season!
