Government Middle School (GMS) in Bayavü, Kohima organised a medical camp in collaboration with Ayush Health and Wellness Centre, Bayavü, to promote healthy living and sensitise students and staff on health and hygiene practices. The camp, held on Friday at the school’s premises, was aimed at keeping students and staff healthy. Dr. Noksangrenla Jamir, medical officer (Ayush), talked to the students about diarrhoea and its prevention, health, and hygiene practices. As a part of the Beti Bacho Beti Padhao (BBBP) program, the doctor took a special session for adolescent girls, sensitising them about menstruation cycles, menstrual myths, common symptoms during periods, and maintaining hygiene, and the food to eat.
The event also included health check-ups for students and teachers, and about 60 students were immunised on the occasion. The participants were distributed mid-day meals, medicines, ORS sachets, and vitamins. Kikruneinuo Liezietsu, Head Teacher of GMS Bayavü, appreciated the staff of Ayush Health and Wellness Centre, Bayavü, for supporting the school and promoting a healthy lifestyle in the school and society. The event was successful in informing students and staff about various health issues to prevent diseases and maintain healthy living simultaneously.
