Four young men killed near the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Recruits Training School in Eldoret last Saturday were tortured to death, according to an autopsy report revealed on Thursday. Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor conducted the postmortem at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and found that the victims, Cornelius Kipkoech, Daniel Kiprotich, Kenneth Kipkemei, and Shadrack Kipkemei, died as a result of internal bleeding from repeated beatings. The autopsy ruled out gunshot wounds, indicating that the men were severely beaten with blunt objects. Human rights activists and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers were present during the examination. The killings have sparked calls for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators, with the victims’ parents and activists demanding justice. The bodies of the men were discovered on Sunday morning along an access road near the military territory where they were tortured. Investigations are ongoing, and activists are urging the government to compensate the victims’ families. Survivors of the incident reported that the men were surrounded by soldiers and farm guards while collecting leftover maize cobs and were then viciously attacked. Locals living near the military school have been urged to remain calm as the investigation continues. The killings have been described as disheartening and horrifying by human rights activists and witnesses. The incident highlights the need for justice and accountability in cases of violence and abuse.
