Foundation Empowers Talented Nigerian Shoe Maker to Realize Dreams
The Azemobor Gregory Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable individuals in Nigeria, has successfully assisted numerous citizens in realizing their dreams of becoming influential figures in society. With a track record spanning over two and a half decades, the foundation has employed various platforms and programs to uplift the less privileged.
In addition to implementing several Scholarship Support Programs across the country, the foundation has also been providing skills training and equipment to those who aspire to work but lack the necessary resources. Recently, the foundation merged its scholarship and tools provision initiatives to create a comprehensive support system for individuals in need.
One standout beneficiary of the foundation’s initiatives is Michael Afolayan, a 19-year-old aspiring shoe maker who had spent several years apprenticed to a master in Ikeja. After completing his apprenticeship, Michael was presented with a set of shoe-making equipment worth N400,000 by the Azemobor Gregory Foundation, enabling him to establish his shoe-making business anywhere he desires.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Michael expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the foundation’s assistance, acknowledging that it would fundamentally transform his life and future prospects. He described the day as remarkable, as what he once deemed impossible was made possible by the foundation, recognizing his worth and granting him the tools necessary to embark on his entrepreneurial journey.
The relationship between the foundation and the Afolayan brothers, Michael and Dare, commenced when Michael developed a passion for shoe making while still in senior secondary school. With aspiring dreams of establishing the largest shoe-making industry in Nigeria, Michael pursued apprenticeship in the trade alongside his education. Meanwhile, Dare, Michael’s older brother, shares the same enthusiasm for shoe making but also wishes to continue his studies.
The foundation’s founder, Apostle Gregory Azemobor, expressed his satisfaction in seeing the dreams of these young individuals come to fruition. However, he also called upon governments at all levels and public-spirited individuals to consider the needs of the less fortunate and provide support to marginalized children, both in terms of education and vocational training.
Apostle Azemobor emphasized that the Azemobor Gregory Foundation remains committed to its mission of rescuing indigent children from the streets and providing them with educational opportunities. He concluded his remarks by encouraging others to join in extending hope and a brighter future to less privileged children, whether through personal scholarships or support for vocational training.
