Formula 1 is set to make its highly anticipated debut on the famous Las Vegas Strip later this year. The announcement has already ignited excitement among fans, as the late-night street race promises high-stakes action and thrilling competition. Red Bull F1 driver Sergio Perez and Team Principal Christian Horner recently visited the city to shoot a promotional video that cleverly pays tribute to Las Vegas.
In the video, Perez and Horner meet in an elevator where Perez recounts an unforgettable evening where his RB7 F1 car ended up on top of a casino. It all started innocently enough with a night of gambling, but things quickly escalated when off-road racer Bryce Menzies joined them at the roulette table. Determined to one-up each other, the duo then jumped into their race cars and hit the dirt track for some exhilarating racing.
Back in Vegas, Perez found himself rocketing down the strip, but he couldn’t escape the city’s enchanting spell. Magician Mat Franco snatched his car away in a cloud of smoke, leaving Perez amazed and entertained. The video also features several cameos, including Emelia Hartford, the Blue Man Group, and the legendary Wayne Newton, also known as Mr. Las Vegas.
The video concludes with a shot of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 KR speeding away, symbolizing the new partnership between the race team and the American automaker. Earlier this year, they announced their collaboration to develop the team’s next-generation hybrid power units for the 2026 rules. Both Oracle Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri will utilize these engines until at least 2030.
Las Vegas will play host to its inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix this year as the sport expands its presence in the United States. With Miami added to the roster of tracks last year, the US will now have three races in total. The exciting Las Vegas Grand Prix is scheduled for November 18, followed by the final race on November 26 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
In terms of the F1 World Championship standings, Sergio Perez currently holds the second position with an impressive 189 points. His Red Bull Racing teammate, Max Verstappen, leads the field with a commanding 314 points. Their outstanding performances have propelled the team to the front, leaving second-place Mercedes trailing by over 250 points. Aston Martin sits in third place with 196 points.
After the summer shutdown, F1 racing will resume later this month with the Dutch Grand Prix taking place on August 27.
This much-anticipated Formula 1 debut on the iconic Las Vegas Strip is generating significant buzz among motorsport enthusiasts around the world. With a unique street race format, high-stakes action, and a star-studded cast, this event promises to be a thrilling addition to the Formula 1 calendar. Fans eagerly await the November race, hoping for a spectacle that will leave them breathless and eager for more.
